1/3 S.T.

Seminar becomes the most awaited moment for some of us this semester. It is obligatory thing to do on the list for gaining so-called “1/3 S.T.”. Ok, there is something I should explain to everyone as they comprehend that I have finished proposal for my thesis or I will soon to be graduated. Well, it is not like that. As a chemical engineering student of Universitas Gadjah Mada, we have 3 big final projects to obtain the bachelor degree.

1. Research
We have to conduct a research based on the title we get from our supervisor within about 10 months. So, yeah, I have done this research related to the geothermal energy since the beginning of the year. And after all the things are clearly done, we can hold a seminar to present our result. So we get our 1/3 S.T. title.

2. Internship
Internship emerges as something compulsory in some of faculties, as though Faculty of Engineering with no exception. Usually, we do our internship in the 8th semester to complete the 2/3 S.T.

        3. Plant Design Project
And finally, it is the most challenging thing to complete our study here. If you ever ask, what do I do as a chemical engineer? So, maybe this kind of thing could give you an idea. In this project, we have to design a chemical plant for very wide aspects start from process design, equipment design, utility, SHE, and also economics. I commence this final project next month and hopefully I will finish by June next year. Every aspect that we have to made has its own deadline, so we ought to work hard on this. In the end of this project, we will have our “pendadaran” to finally become S.T.

And last Monday, I felt so excited and so relieved that I have finished one of those milestones in this challenging college life. I did this research with my partner, Annisa Fakhriya Rofi, who was initially my competition partner and now becomes my partner mostly in everything since I can always rely on her whenever I need to. We were under the best supervisor who kindly gave as the recommendation letter at the beginning. We learned a lot from him, Bapak Indra Perdana S.T., M.T., Ph.D. who are so helpful and gave as a lot of opportunity to grow and learn. Afterall, I feel so grateful for what I have gone through in this more than 10 months. I experienced a lot from the very first beginning we discuss about the title until the way we carry out our seminar. But, we did it well!

I would say thank you so much dear everyone who has a great role in this process. I couldn’t say it to one by one since all the little things matter a lot, even it is just a word of encouragement. And for all my dear friends who made it to come by just to give the beautiful flowers or another sweet gifts, I have nothing to say but thank you so much for being so kind and lovely. I appreciate it a lot. I was very overjoyed. Alhamdulillah. May Allah always be with us in every step of the way.

For all the love and support, thankyou so much!
